Create a Campaign

This guide walks you through the complete lifecycle of a FundlyHub campaign — from creating your account to receiving funds in your bank. Every screenshot below is taken from the live product.

Open the Campaign Builder →

What you'll need: a permanent email address, a phone number, a profile photo, and a cover image for your campaign. End-to-end setup takes about 15 minutes.

1. Create your account

Go to fundlyhub.org and select Start Fundraiser in the hero section.

FundlyHub homepage with the Start Fundraiser call-to-action

You'll land on the authentication page. Choose Continue with Google or Continue with Apple for one-click signup, or register with email:

Create account form with real-time password validation

FieldRequirement
Email addressA permanent address you can access. Disposable email services are rejected.
Full nameYour real name — it appears on your campaigns.
Create passwordMinimum 8 characters with an uppercase letter, lowercase letter, digit, and symbol. The checklist under the field validates in real time.
Confirm passwordMust match exactly.

After submitting, check your inbox for "Verify your FundlyHub email address" and click the verification link. The link is valid for 24 hours; you can request a new one from the sign-in page if it expires.

Email already registered?

If you see "An account with this email already exists," use the Sign in tab instead, or reset your password with Forgot password.

2. Complete your profile

Publishing requires a verified profile — donors need to know who they're giving to. Your profile page shows a progress banner with exactly what's outstanding:

Click Settings on the banner (or your avatar → Profile Settings) and complete all five requirements:

Build donor trust

The Social Links section (visible above the contact card) is optional, but campaigns whose creators link real social profiles consistently raise more — donors can verify you're a real person.

3. Open the campaign builder

Select Start Fundraiser from the homepage, or navigate directly to fundlyhub.org/create.

The builder is a live preview — the page you're editing is the page donors will see. There are no wizard steps to click through; complete the sections in any order. Your draft auto-saves every 30 seconds.

The campaign builder: cover photo, detail chips, title, and the sidebar with goal, type, visibility, and URL

The layout has three zones:

  • Main column — cover photo, campaign details, title, summary, and story
  • Sidebar — fundraising goal, campaign type, visibility, and your campaign URL
  • Action bar (bottom) — Start Over, the AI assistant, and Publish

4. Import an existing campaign (optional)

Already running a campaign elsewhere? The banner at the top of the builder — "Have an existing campaign? Paste a link to import data automatically" — imports it in seconds:

Import from URL panel with a GoFundMe link entered and the Import button active

  1. Click the banner to expand Import from URL
  2. Paste your campaign link and click Import
  3. Title, story, goal, cover image, and category are extracted automatically — review and edit anything before publishing

Supported sources include GoFundMe, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, JustGiving, Fundly, and most public fundraiser pages.

AI assistant

The 💬 chat icon in the bottom action bar opens an AI assistant that can do the same import from a pasted link — or build the entire form from a plain-language description of your cause.

5. Add your cover photo

Click into the Cover Photo card. Recommended size is 1200 × 675 px (16:9); JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or HEIC up to 5 MB. Three sources are available:

TabWhat it does
UploadDrag & drop or browse your own image
Stock PhotosSearch a library of free, high-resolution photography
AI GenerateDescribe the image you want; AI creates a custom cover

6. Write the title, summary, and story

Builder with a campaign title and summary filled in, and the URL auto-generated

FieldLengthGuidance
Title5–100 charactersSay who needs help and what for: "Help Sarah Recover From Surgery"
Summary10–300 charactersOne sentence; this is what appears in search results and social shares
Story150–10,000 charactersThe full narrative, with rich-text formatting

A strong story answers four questions:

  1. Who are you (or the beneficiary)?
  2. What happened?
  3. Exactly how will the money be used? Itemize: "$6,000 physical therapy, $2,500 home care equipment, $7,500 living costs."
  4. What changes when the goal is reached?

Every field has an ✨ Suggest button that drafts professional copy from what you've already written — write your title first, then let the AI build on it. All generated text is fully editable.

Below the cover photo, set the campaign details using the inline chips:

  • Select category — required; auto-detected from your text, manually overridable
  • Add location — city/state or ZIP
  • Add end date — optional deadline
  • Personal / For someone else — who the funds are for

7. Set the goal, visibility, and URL

Configure the campaign in the sidebar:

Fundraising goal — minimum $100, in USD. Set a realistic figure; unrealistic goals are flagged by review.

Campaign typeQuick for a straightforward fundraiser, or Project for a structured campaign with milestones.

Visibility:

OptionAudience
PublicDiscoverable in search, categories, and the homepage
UnlistedReachable only by people you share the link with
PrivateLocked behind a passcode and/or an email allowlist you define

Campaign URL — auto-generated from your title (/f/help-sarah-recover-from-surgery). Edit it to anything shorter; a green check confirms availability in real time.

8. Publish

Click Publish in the bottom action bar. Two checks run:

  1. Profile — if any item from Step 2 is incomplete, publishing is blocked and the missing items are listed.
  2. Content review — an automated assessment runs in seconds:
    • Approved → your campaign is live immediately at fundlyhub.org/f/your-url.
    • Held for review → a human reviewer checks it within ~24 hours. You'll receive the outcome by email with any improvement suggestions, and you can keep editing in the meantime.

Publish button disabled?

Hover over it — the tooltip names the blocker. The most common causes are an unverified email (Step 1) or an incomplete profile (Step 2).

Once live, share your campaign URL everywhere — the first 48 hours of momentum have the largest effect on long-term performance. You can edit any field after publishing.

9. Set up payouts

Donations are processed by Stripe. Stripe's processing fee is ~2.9% + $0.30 per donation; FundlyHub charges 0%. To transfer funds to your bank:

  1. Open your avatar → Profile and select the Earnings tab
  2. Click Enable Payouts

The Earnings tab with the Set Up Payouts card and Enable Payouts button

You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding, which collects your name, date of birth, address, phone, the last 4 digits of your SSN (or a photo ID), and the bank account or debit card for deposits. Your banking details are stored by Stripe — never on FundlyHub's servers.

Verification usually completes in minutes. The Earnings tab then shows your live balance — Total raised, Pending, Available, Withdrawn — with:

  • Withdraw All Funds — send the available balance to your bank on demand
  • Payout Schedule — switch from manual withdrawals to automatic daily, weekly, or monthly payouts
  • Recent Payouts — full transfer history with arrival dates

Set up any time

Donations are collected whether or not payouts are configured. You can enable payouts before your first donation or after — nothing is lost.
