Following, Campaign Updates & Likes

Creators post updates on their campaigns — progress, milestones, what the money did. This guide covers how to follow the people and organizations behind campaigns, where their updates show up, how read and unread works, and how to like an update or a comment. If you run a campaign, see Posting updates at the end.

Follow a creator or an organization

You follow people and organizations, not individual campaigns. Following someone brings in the updates from every campaign they run.

  • On a campaign page, next to the organizer's name, click Follow. If the campaign belongs to an organization, a second button follows the organization.
  • On a profile or an organization page, click Follow (or Follow Organization) in the header.

Click the button again (Following → Unfollow) to stop. You need to be signed in to follow.

Whose updates you see

Your updates feed collects new posts from campaigns you are connected to in either of two ways:

You…You see updates from
Follow the creator or the organizationTheir live, public campaigns
Gave to a campaign while signed inThat campaign — including when it is unlisted or paused, since you already have the link

You never see updates on your own campaigns, or updates you wrote.

Gifts made without being signed in are not linked to an account, so they do not add campaigns to your feed. Sign in before you give if you want to hear back.

Where updates appear

  • The campaign page — every campaign has an Updates tab with all its updates, newest first. Anyone can read it.
  • The FundlyHub app's Activity tab — the Updates section is your feed: updates from everyone you follow and every campaign you gave to, newest first. Unread updates are marked, and the badge on the tab counts unread notifications plus unread updates.

Updates are translated automatically. If you read FundlyHub in Russian, Ukrainian or Spanish, an update written in another language is shown in yours, with a Show original link.

Read and unread

  • An update is marked read when you read it, and you can mark the whole list read at once. Marking everything read covers the list you are looking at — an update that arrives while you are reading stays unread.
  • Read state is kept on your account, so it is the same on your phone and on any other device.
  • Only new updates count. When you start following someone, or give to a campaign, its earlier updates appear in your feed as history, already read. So following a creator who has posted forty updates does not give you forty unread items — only what they post from then on.
  • If you unfollow and follow again, the starting point moves to the new follow.

Likes

Every campaign update and every comment (replies included) has a heart under it with its number of likes.

  • Click the heart to like; click it again to take the like back. It turns red while you like something.
  • You need to be signed in. If you are not, clicking the heart opens sign-in and nothing is saved until you are back. Everyone, signed in or not, sees the count.
  • You don't need a verified email address to like, unlike commenting and posting updates.
  • Likes are counted, never listed: nobody can see who liked something, and the author is not notified.
  • You can like updates and comments on campaigns anyone can open — public, unlisted or paused ones. Hidden or removed comments, deleted updates, and campaigns that are not published yet cannot be liked.
  • If a like could not be saved (for example, you lost your connection), the heart goes back to how it was and a message says "Your like wasn't saved". Try again.

Posting updates (creators)

If you run a campaign, updates are the main way to keep supporters engaged:

  1. Open your campaign while signed in and go to the Updates tab.
  2. Click Post Update.
  3. Write a title and the update itself (50–1,000 characters in the website's dialog) and post it.

Your update appears on the campaign's Updates tab straight away, and, unread, in the feed of everyone who follows you (or your organization) and everyone who gave to the campaign while signed in. It is translated into the other three languages in the background. You can delete an update from its trash icon.

You need a verified email address to post updates.

Organizations post news differently: Post update in the organization admin area publishes to the organization's public profile under Latest news — see Running your organization.
